Hey everybody,

Today I'm going to be talking about nutrition; specifically for teenagers. If you are a follower of my content, odds are you are a teenager or perhaps a young adult. (if I'm wrong, comment below so I know who I'm talking to!) That being said, there's some variables you should be aware of when deciding what or whatnot to put into your body to absorb.

For instance, a skinny teen with a fast metabolism could eat an entire pizza and not gain weight, while an “average” teen may experience weight gain if he were to do that consistently.

In order to figure yourself out and where you stand, one could be divided into three categories.

Ectomorph - skinny teen with fast metabolism

Mesomorph - Balanced metabolism

Endomorph - Slow metabolism

So if I had to be blunt with these categories, simply put they would be skinny, average, and then wide. A slow metabolism means your body has to break down the nutrients at a much slower rate, so it doesn't necessarily leave your system and expend into energy. This explains why some people in college gain weight, because their metabolism slows down.

So if you are an ectomorph trying to bulk up and gain weight, here's what I suggest. Eat often, to the point where you are eating every 2 hours. This will help keep your metabolism in check and go over the calorie limit (which is what you want). Avoid too much cardio activity but do a lot of weight training.

If you are a mesomorph, continue to eat a balanced meal every 4 hours. In addition to this, do a healthy combo of cardio (twice a week) with weight lifting (3-4 times per week).

If you are an endomorph, try to eat a balanced meal every 4 hours as well, but if you are trying to lose weight, try to cut your calories by 100. If your body can handle it, push it to 400 less but I wouldn't reccomend going beyond that. Work your way up in incriments, even if it's by 10 calories the first week. I would do more cardio than weight lifting until you find the solid balance between the two.

So that's my fitness for teens tips of the day. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below and I'd be happy to answer it for you!

Have a great day!
